Join willow artist Joe Gregory for her most popular workshop and learn to sculpt a characterful moongazing Hare.

Taught to hundreds of happy weavers over the years, this workshop is one of Joe’s most established and well-loved sculpture workshops. During the day, you’ll be guided through the steps to create your own expressive hare sculpture using traditional willow weaving techniques and the finest quality English willow.

You’ll begin with a simple framework and gradually build up the shape, form, and features that bring your hare to life. Whether you choose a bold, upright pose or something more relaxed and playful. As you shape, layer, and bend the willow, you'll explore the core techniques of free-form sculpture, developing expressive, three-dimensional form from a single, versatile material. These foundational skills can be carried into future creative projects, but for today, they come together in the joyful creation of a hare full of movement, posture, and personality—a lasting expression of your creativity and a memory of a day well spent.

This workshop is suitable for complete beginners and those with some creative experience. Come solo and meet fellow makers, or bring a friend for a creative day out together. With a welcoming atmosphere, clear tuition, and plenty of inspiration in the studio, you’ll be amazed at what you can create in just one day.

Your finished hare will make a beautiful feature for the home or garden, and when treated with a simple wood preservative can last outdoors for many years to come.
