A playful, expressive basket form shaped by nature and guided by your own creative hand.
In this two-day workshop, you'll learn to craft a unique wild frame basket using a blend of premium English willow, found wood, and locally foraged natural fibres. Unlike more structured basketry styles, this technique invites freedom—using curved or forked branches as the foundation, then weaving into the spaces between them to build a basket that grows intuitively, shaped by its materials.
No two baskets are ever the same. Your result might be sculptural and decorative, or practical and functional—it all depends on how you choose to work with what nature provides.
Students are encouraged to bring their own natural materials to incorporate into the design—bark, grasses, stems, yarn, or driftwood—making each piece truly personal. You'll also gain the knowledge to forage and prepare your own materials in future, opening up a whole new approach to art basketry rooted in place and season.
Recently revived after several years away, this much-loved workshop is a joyful return to instinctive making—perfect for those who want to reconnect with craft, nature, and creative possibility.
