Step into the world of traditional basketry with this one-day workshop, where you’ll learn the timeless art of creating a frame basket. This style of basket has been made for centuries all over the world and once you know the method, you’ll be able to create more at home with confidence.
During the day, I’ll guide you through all the weaving techniques you need to make your own sturdy, functional and unique basket. You’ll work with beautiful willow (did you know there are over 250 varieties used in basketry?), and you’ll get the chance to explore different colours and textures to make your piece truly your own.
I’ll share plenty of tips from my years of weaving experience, showing you how to adapt this simple base design into countless styles, from practical everyday baskets to striking artistic pieces. My workshop is full of examples to inspire you, and you’ll leave not only with a basket you can be proud of, but also the know-how to keep making more at home.
This course is perfect for beginners as well as those with some weaving experience. Whether you come along solo (and meet other lovely, crafty folk) or bring a friend for a special day out, it’s a relaxed and rewarding way to spend the day.
Plus, the on-site Willows Tea & Coffee Shop is open during the workshop, serving ethical, Rainforest Alliance coffee and tea, award-winning cakes, and simple savouries, the perfect way to relax between weaving sessions.

Good mobility in hands and feet is required; you’ll be standing while working.
Please wear old, non-dangly clothes, covered-toe shoes (no sandals), and minimal or no jewellery.
