Join willow artist Joe Gregory for a one-day workshop exploring the beautiful Tatza (or Celtic) basket—a traditional Polish form originally used as a breadbasket and now loved as both a functional tray and a striking piece of wall art.

The Tatza is a celebration of geometry: built from interlocking hexagonal patterns, sweeping curves and rhythmic layering, it’s a wonderful introduction to structured, pattern-based weaving. Its bold, sculptural design captures attention whether displayed on a wall, used as a decorative centrepiece, or set out as a tray for breads and fruit.

Recently brought back due to popular demand, this workshop reintroduces a much-loved geometric weaving project. With clear, structured tuition and inspiring examples around the studio, you’ll learn how the Tatza’s framework is formed, how the crossings interlock, and how those beautiful repeating patterns take shape.

This workshop is ideal for beginners with some hand strength, as well as weavers with a little experience who are keen to try something new and visually striking. Expect a relaxed, friendly environment, plenty of encouragement, and that lovely “aha!” moment when the pattern suddenly clicks into place.

Whether hung proudly on the wall or used around the home, your Tatza will be a beautiful, lasting reminder of what can be achieved with small steps, clear guidance, and the joy of learning something wonderfully different.
