Spend two days learning to weave your own traditional English oval shopping basket in a beautiful and peaceful countryside setting.
Oval baskets are often the next step for weavers who have already learnt to make a round basket, and this course is a great opportunity to build on those skills while learning some new techniques.
The English oval is a wonderfully practical basket and one that you'll find yourself using again and again. I use mine all the time around the home and garden for carrying all sorts of bits and pieces, but of course it also makes a rather handsome and very useful shopping basket!
Over the two days, we'll work through the construction of the basket step by step, looking at the techniques needed to create a strong, well-shaped oval basket. Some previous basket-weaving experience is essential, and you'll get much more from the course if you're already comfortable weaving a round basket.
A peaceful countryside setting
I'm delighted to be teaching this course at Jan's beautiful countryside venue, where I've recently started running courses. It's a wonderfully tranquil place to spend a couple of days immersed in willow weaving, away from the distractions of everyday life.
Following the September course, several students have already booked to come back, so there are now only 3 places remaining.
To make the most of the peaceful setting and allow plenty of individual attention, courses at this venue are limited to just 6 students.
Lunch included
Lunch is included in the course and is very much part of the experience. Jan will provide homemade soups, cheese and cake, with tea, coffee and biscuits available throughout the three days.
