I’m really happy to be bringing this course back!
Before the pandemic, I taught my Foraged Basket Making course every year, and I’ve missed it. Now I’m delighted to be able to offer it again, with a whole weekend dedicated to discovering, preparing and weaving with naturally foraged materials.
We’ll begin our weekend with a morning exploring the beautiful grounds of Towneley Park, looking for common, easily identifiable materials that can be used for basketry. We’ll then head back to the Old Walled Garden, home of the Offshoots Permaculture Project, where we’ll prepare a selection of the materials ready for weaving.
Over the two days, I’ll introduce you to a range of different foraged materials and show you how they can be prepared and used for basket making. I’ll bring along a selection of basket styles for inspiration, you can work on a number of smaller sample projects or a larger basket.
It’s a lovely opportunity to slow down, spend time outdoors, learn about the useful plants growing around us and then turn those materials into something beautiful and practical. The classroom is indoors, so don't worry if the weather isn't it's best for us we have a place to work comfortably.
The course is suitable for complete beginners as well as those with some previous weaving experience. No previous basket-making knowledge is needed.
