Frame baskets are created all over the world and incorporate a weaving tradition that is much older than many modern baskets.
Different materials can be used in their creation and unlike the more complicated modern baskets once a frame basket has been made the learner should be able to create more frame baskets on their own.
Over this one day course you will learn to weave all the techniques you will need to create your own frame basket. You will have the opportunity to use different Willows (there are over 250 different varieties of basketry Willow alone) to create a sturdy unique basket.
Joe Gregory has been weaving these baskets for many years and will be able to give you advice and tips on how to create functional and also art frame pieces if you wish and the many different materials available locally to make these baskets with.
From a very simple design base there are multiple possibilities with this basketry technique and Joe will be able to show you examples in her Workshop of the many different styles of basket that can be achieved using this ancient technique.
Suitable for beginners and those with some Weaving experience a lovely way to spend a day. Come alone and meet other crafty folk or come with a friend or two for a special day together.
